Hi! Happy 4th! As we all get accustomed to new summer schedules, I hope everyone here remembers to take a break for YOU this summer too. Because let's be honest, relaxing at the beach with a good summer read rarely happens when you have young children.
That’s why Work and Play has started Adult Camp. To give you a chance to nurture a hobby, learn something new, or relieve the stress from worrying what the heck to feed your kid. Throughout the summer, we’ll offer classes and workshops on varying days and times. Most classes include an optional babysitting service – allowing your child time to spend in our new awesome Outdoor Classroom.
Jennie Traill-Schaeffer of TraillWorks, kicks off the summer with five weeks of her Watercolor Workshop. She’ll provide all the supplies you need to launch or expand your painting hobby. Classes will be held on Wednesdays at 9:30am (child care available) and 7:30pm.

Joy Yagid will offer three useful workshops. Smart Phone Photography will help you take better photos with your Smartphone (something I’m sure we all do every day!). Her Photo Organization class will help you manage all those photos you have stored on your computer (which will become very useful as the weather turns cooler and you start thinking about holiday cards). And she’ll lead a Photo Book Workshop to ensure you carve out time to actually capture all the memories you’re making in a nicely bound photo album – a task that sounds so easy with all the online tools available these days, but how many of you have actually created one?
Alissa Stolz from The Simply Wholesome Kitchen, will tackle something we all definitely deal with every day – feeding your kids. She’ll start with Teaching Healthy Eating from the Start, a workshop that will help you figure out what to feed your young child, especially if you have a picky eater (I’m sure cream cheese sandwiches every day for my own picky three-year old is not the healthiest choice!).She’ll also take on Snacks and Lunches to help fill your arsenal with new ideas of what to pack every day.
Last but not least, for all you creative moms who have thought about launching an Etsy shop, Work and Play member Shannon Duffy will lead a two-hour Etsy workshop to teach you what you need to know – from getting started, to promotional images, to gaining the confidence to actually sell your wares.

I really hope you take a break and do something for yourself this summer. I, for one, am hoping to carve out time to start writing again, through updating this blog on a regular basis. (And now that I’ve said that out loud, I hope you all hold me accountable to nurture my own hobby!)
