Class Description

Maplewoodshop 

Build in safe, supervised classes and workshops in Maplewood, NJ. Create and take pride in the results of your creativity. Grow confidence and skills that will last a lifetime.

Maplewoodshop’s mission is to: Teach kids, teens, and adults how to work with wood using locally harvested trees and commercially available wood products. Help students learn how to safely use hand and power tools, design, prototype, joinery, and finishing techniques. Enable students to use these skills to build on their own for creative or vocational uses.

Our founder, Mike Schloff, is an experienced local woodworker and parent of a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old. Mike has taught woodworking at Maker Madness and at a collective school in Montclair. He has worked with elementary school children in classroom settings and has mentored people over his 20 year professional career.
